Enter My Mother's Day Contest!

I have always been curious how blogging contests work, so I've decided to give one a try. So here goes and play fair!!! :)

Here's a photo of some fabulous treasures recovered within our home while destashing to sell the house. I'm absolutely positive most of you know what these are. There are plans for these beauties in my head. Can you guess what I'm planning to do with what's in the photo? Just leave a comment with your guess included. The contest will end Sunday, May 11th which is Mother's Day. Come on, try and win something for yourself, your mom, aunt, sister, daughter, even grandma!!! A handcrafted item made with something in the picture could be yours. Come on - give it a shot. (please keep comments clean - this is to be fun) In case of a tie, your screen names will be thrown in a real hat and a winner drawn by my DH.
Happy Mother's Day!!! (Hey, everyone has a mother)

Looks like embroidered (linen?) handkerchiefs to me.

I think Bob's right. Were some of them mom's? Good luck on your contest.

I'm thinking that you are going to sew them up to your bags as liners for little bags or purses?

These are vintage embroidered handkerchiefs. As to what you are going to do with them ... well, I would add a fusible webbing to them and make them into an heirloom quilt. But, I don't think that is your style. So, my guess is that you are going to use them to make an heirloom christening gown.

Not sure if my first post worked, so excuse me if I repeat myself..

I think you will use the handkerchiefs to make bible covers.

I think you are going to use the embroidered hankerchiefs to make little heirloom bride's purses.

You are going to make "Handkerchief dolls".. What are they? Here is the answer:
Handkerchief dolls are dolls that are made by knotting squares of fabric the size and shape of handkerchief squares. For a sample of how to make one, see this link:

Try some you too!!

I think you might be using these as the lining on some of your bags...how gorgeous would that be? I think that anything you do with them will be lovely, though. :) Happy Mother's Day!

I'm sure you'll turn the embroidered handkerchiefs into a nice curtain!

I think you're going to make a quilt with the embroidered pieces as quilt blocks! They're beautiful!

I too think you are going to sew them together and make a cafe curtain.

Oh, goodness, everyone has such great ideas. I know they are Handkerchief's. I've seen them made into christening hats and then they are given to the grown baby for their wedding day.

Drawstring purses or bags. Happy Mother's Day to all!

I think they'll be made into little drawstring bags. But, it looks like I'm not the only one that thinks that!

They are beautiful and would be lovely as a cafe curtain or made into an heirloom quilt. I think they would also be lovely to line your purses, but they might be too fragile for that. Whatever you do, it will be lovely! Happy Mother's Day!!
